As a general guideline the following 3-stage holds for identifying a player as being non-bot (previously 2-stage, now 3-stage as of 2.0.5):

(bots always have a single word name, with only letters, starting by a Capital followed by smalls: Abcdefg)

 

1. A plane is specialized. Bots are NEVER specialized. 

2. The name contains symbols (!,_1/?6], doesnt start with a capital letter or has a cpital letter somewhere else. Examples:

krautjaeger fails by starting with a small letter. Isoruku_Yamamoto fails by containing an underscore& having a second capital, plus its basically two names. My name also contains a spelling error, which can hint too. 

3. A bot generally has a name of its planes nation. For instance: a german may be named Hans or Friedrich, but not Isoroku (which is actually a japanese bot name). 
If you see a Me262 flying around named Isoroku it WILL be a human player. If you see a Me262 named Hans flying around its likely to be bot, if hes called hans he will be human due to rule 1. 

 

A fourth rule can be used:

 

Rule 4 is gameplay observation rather than name analysis: 

- If a plane goes into chasing deadlock with you, its often a human player. Only few bots do this. 

- If a plane dodges your rockets the very instant you fire them, its a bot. Bots have been confirmed to do this, humans cant unless they anticipate rockets coming in. 

So if a plane behaves bot like hell be a bot, if he behaves humanlike hell be human. Makes sense right?


I'd advise against using a mod for this, because it genuinely doesnt take more than 3 braincells to figure this out

 

Something I do rather quickly is in each game I hit the tab key pull up the team listing and right click each name if the add them as friend menu appears it's a real person and not a bot. Use this method and the ones you mentioned and it's easy enough to find out whom is whom :-)

thx for your work, you evolve and correct quicker then game creator

when i see this post who' is the bot : du to the great player base : in t10 simple all the other planes are bots except the guy who cross the map to kill u.

 

the names of new wg staff develop i hope it's a great sense of humour (nevermind and blind .....what a program)

Any chance for a bots name change for EU?

While at it, I would pay RL money for a mod where the bots in-game chat comes as "BOT TALK CRAP" on the screen.

Changing bot names requires a decompilation of the pilot files, of which there is one for each nation, editing and recompilation.  It's possible, but it's a fiddly process.

^^ That. It's not that it is difficult, it just takes a long while as there are lots of names.

There are no bugs though, as the only thing this does is edit regular text-files and add a '*' before each pilot name. These pilot names are used for AI bots and the pilots you you recruit, as they read from the same files. So *Heinrich in a match will be *Heinrich the pilot in your hangar as well. None of these files touches html-codes, and are only compatible with 'English' localizations as per info on the first page so if anyone uses any other localization then artifacts may happen and there's nothing I can do about that.

EDIT: While there were no html issues, another person pointed out an issue with Rudolph so I repackaged all the files again on the off chance something had gone corrupted. It worked for him, so try to redownload and see.

The file has been repacked as someone mentioned and issue with Rudolph and with the above comment I decided to repack the files none the less in case of corruption, it has been said to work now so if anyone had any issues please just redownload.

ye, i know it touch only text files, and when i said "html" was like the rudolf nickname and plane name in flight toon, like instead to say il-40 it was like il "some code" 40

nothing particular, just this kind of "errors" if we want to call them like it :D

Same here. Not using any mods except for this one.

Edit - after installing reuploaded files evrything seems to work fine (Rudolphs name etc.). Thx mate!

the flight thingy seems it is a bug fixed or going to be fixed, so it is not related to mod for sure

 

"-Fixed an issue with several aircraft names displayed incorrectly in flight panel and in the list of aircraft available for participation in the Special."

about the rudolf name, no idea why, but it keeps giving me the error name even after reinstalled the package from main post, boh... i mean, it is not a big deal, just no idea why it happens :P
