I never said it was unplayable or something (like the OP), just that it is very hard

it's the first I've ever heard of anyone saying the map is too dark.

I never said  it was a real issue, as in that the map is too dark to be playable (like the OP), but when planes are above you against the black night sky I just do not see the silhouette, only icon/distance/health and I use that to aim.

The background in your shots are the aurora borealis (green) and snow (grey) and that is OK for plane spotting, but I mean the really dark sky up above.

Like I said, not really an issue, I can live with it ... I'll try to take some shots and look at the settings.

I will try to do a screenshot.

When you look up against the dark sky, not the aurora, then you don't see the enemy plane at all and cannot estimate where to preaim. In low tiers this is not really a problem because the planes are so slow. You just shoot around the marker until you see hits.

With faster planes this will become a problem because then you cannot just shoot the marker anymore, you will miss most of the time.

I don't think it is a problem now but I think it will be a problem in higher tiers.

This is why I've asked for screenshots, it may be my lighting settings are usually high from my years in FPS games. But I tried to show you the screenshot of the high tiers on the night map.

After some delay here is my screenshot too.

As I said I don't think its a problem now. I only think it might be a problem in higher tiers.

Night maps are sh*tty compare to daylight ones, period. As the screenshots above show you, you can barely see anything (but the bots of course have the nightvision goggles on...) I do not care if every other human has this huge disadvantage, i dont want my eyes bleeding. And maybe ppl who like this map play in darkrooms next to photographers working on negatives, but for me, there is some light in my room...

Only the second picture I can see some challenge, but with the name plate it's easy enough to see where you need to move your crosshair (directionally) and i doubt they will stay on the background for long.

Still though, isn't that just part of the excitement and challenge of night maps?

I mean... its not like they had it much easier in real life...

Adapt and overcome?

Its a shame that the playerbase isn't big, because otherwise it could've been implemented as an option in the settings to turn it on/off, like Encounter and Assault game modes in World of Tanks.

Because I reckon that it'd just kill the matchmaking algorithm to do so, making it even more impossible to get a decent number of humans in a battle.

Which is, afaik, also the reason why conquest is disabled during events except for the lowest tiers.

Adapt and overcome? You must be kidding...no my dear, i do not want to adapt and overcome! If you play in bright enviroment, you barely see anything, and that sucks. Why dont they implement more night maps into higher tiers?

It might be helpful if the light in your room is dimmed. So perhaps night maps should be played in darkness. I think it's OK even if it's not possible to anticipate the flight of a target sometimes. But it's always under the red bar.
Herr Ober, für meine 30er MKs bitte ein paar Iljushin zum Frühstück und eine Spitfire zum Tee.
