Throwing this on out there, having just played another low tier (3/4) battle in the Archipelago map, this map is just far to big/expansive for low tier (which are all pretty slow) aircraft, you spend half the time going from the spawn point to where you hope the enemy is, I want to be fighting, not flying looking at the scenery!

Then you should ask for 1.9 back and not this rubbish!!!

It is not just low tiers, playing one of those slow attack airplanes in Archipelago is just paint too.

Was just saying this last night when in a Flight with a new player who I am trying to get interested in the game.

Some of the maps would be more enjoyable if assigned to certain Tiers (not sure if they already do that?) or had extra spawn points added in. Waiting to spawn in and then flying from the only Airbase can be quite boring and detracts from the excitement of the game.

I hope this will be addressed in future patches.

Some maps do seem quite large, especially if you're used to higher tier play and the faster pace. But also think of this from the view of new players, where the slow pace and time between engagement and battles can be useful to not over-whelm new players.

The problem with the large maps is mainly when you fly ground attack aircraft, like a Tsh-3. That plane is so slow that you spend the entire game trying to get from A to B. One you arrive there, you will find that some idiot fighters have raced to that point before you. They attack a few targets and leave again. So by the time you arrive, there are few targets left but still all of the enemy fighters overhead.

So the problem is a big map and the idiot behaviour of the the players flying fighters. They should get less points for attacking groundtargets!

And (big) maps with only 1 spawn point per team.

Without airfields and airbases some of these maps are pure frustration ...

You have only one solution: Don't play slow planes.

That's not a solution ... for taking certain sectors (mining plant) you need GA and they are slow. Or you can wait for the enemy to show up and shoot them to cap, but that too could take ages.

The two people I got to try the game said the same (and neither consequently bothered sticking with WOWP), on lower tiers the maps are too big for the speed of many aircraft and it takes too long travelling between sectors to make the game engaging.

Going to add Asian Border to the list, high tiers, nice map, just had a tier 4/5 battle in it, and I could have read a book in the time it took to fly between sectors.  Now Eek has gone, any comment form Blindfold? There are generally no bad maps in WoWP, just some which should be tier limited duet to aircraft speed.

All of the maps are tier-related: http://forum.worldofwarplanes.eu/index.php?/topic/51780-up-to-date-maps/

Put some airfields in those large maps. Or change a garrison to airfield.

So you can respawn closer to where the action is ...

Yep, some of the maps are too big for slower planes at low / mid tier:
http://forum.worldof...big-for-tier-5s

Changing the layout of sectors so that "priority" sectors (Military Bases and Command Centres) are always near to main spawns; and there's always a central airbase/field to help teams press the advantage will help a bit:  But won't stop the rest of the team just leaving surviving slows in the dust and often winning a match before you can get across the maps.

I still think tweaking the cruise flight skill to give a more generous flat (not percentage) OOC speed boost could help a lot without warping the game experience - could even add more restrictions (must be flying level within optimum altitude, for example) to keep the benefit to slows balanced vs other vehicles.

For large maps I take the specialist piece of equipment 'picnic'.

Lol. And in my low tier bombers which I play at higher alts I take my artist's paints and brushes, some lovely views. I do tend to bomb the penguins between sectors...... but that's a whole different forum matter..... with my psychiatrist. :B

Bump.

I had to think of this thread playing yesterday.

Flying tier II for missions and landed in Archipelago : Decisive Blow with an S.510 ... fought my way all over the ocean to the enemy airfield and got shot down. Excused myself and left. I just couldn't be bothered to do another intercontinental flight in a biplane ...

If there was a way of blocking that map as on WOT I'd do it in an instant, it's a boring mess. Tier 2 and most 3s are far too slow to travel across a map that size so its almost always an easy win for the team spawning with the 2 cap zones so long as they defend fairly sensibly before the enemy gets to the cap zones.

Have amassed zillions of " Air Miles " read five novels and am half way through completing my autobiography.

Not a bad map all in all. Ha Ha.:D
