I've never tried this.

Any data on what are the benefits?

Bigger chance to set on fire i think. But as patch data says now even stock ammo have small chance to set on fire.

There is no hard accurate data. Universal ammo have higher chance of fire and critical damages.

New universal ammo is cheap as duck

Im gonna be using belts on all tier 5+ planes except bombers, while ill be using universal ordinance on all tier 5+ GA and bombers.

May even consider it  on the Blenheim IV and the AR67.

It is supercheap compared to the old universal belts & those were profitable in my experience

equip it to every plane you own, the cost is next to nothing now as far as I've seen and before this shambles of a patch it was worth the extra credit spend so as long as it hasn't been nerfed it's worth equipping. Unless it restricts what other consumables or equipment you can load, I cant be bothered figuring it out.

What a nonsense (from WG, not from you :-). In all gaming, the very basic thing in these improvements is the + data.

Well who cares, its basically free- lets just embrace this one positive thing about the update. Universal ammo on the Me262 used to cost like 30k.

Lets focus our negative energy on bullshit upgrades, the diehard nerfing of premiums (especially bombers & GA), and the fact we can no longer use first aid & fire ext together

Yep, there had to be a reason why I looked it up at the beginning and immediately decided to forget about it. :-)

Amen to all the rest. Very annoying, all.

Yes no reason not to use universal ammo now.

With the added advantage of more crits and fires and the target only able to revive the pilot OR put out the fire

Right now the brief description we had before has been removed to show increased crit and fire chance.

I can say that in the future like with the ordinance consumables, there is a plan for it to display in real time the effect the ammunition has on your guns. Right now with the change of ammunition to a "consumable" and the pricing changes I imagine there were other things to take into consideration and organise.

So hopefully some good news there for you!

I slight difference I don't know if you're aware of, the different levels of ammunition also have different round velocities, the free ammo usually has faster velocity and so on.

I didn't know this important information. Thank you again, and again §%$*/** you WG for keeping this kind of data in the dark.

Does it also make guns overheat quicker?

this should be in  the tooltip ASAP . as it effects large calibre cannons a lot... 37 cal cannons and up are slow by itself they dont need another factor to complicate firing.

Not as far as I know, this is down the size of the gun and the RoF.
