3 weeks after release and STILL players are trying to work out this new system on thread after thread on here. Surely that tells you it's far too over-complicated?!

All this debate over what amounts to the tiniest of 'improvements' in many cases in-game. In 1.9 it might have actually added something, now with respawning in the game these tiny little advantages mean nothing as your opponent returns in a minute full of hp and speed to blast what remains of your hp after an initially successful dogfight.

What exactly do you mean with improvement ? That the Technology Level goes up ?

So you have:

Stock - Starting quality level - Grey

Improved - 1st Improvement level - Green

Advanced - 2nd Improvement level - Purple

Ultimate - 3rd and final level of improvement - Gold

You then have the over-all "tech level" bar-

Spoiler

You can see a range of minimum and maximum. You can calibrate between these values to "improve" the primary statistics of the equipment - In the diagram above; tail and wing resistance to damage bonus and the penalties of cruise speed and boost speed.

How do you mean you get worse equipment? As you can see you apply and you will get a buff, always an increase on something, what it increases is completely your decision on whether you accept or not. But if you apply and continue you, you will get to the max level of calibration regardless.

That's what I was afraid of - you just "improve" to get to a higher technology Level or to Change it into Gold Level.

Your approach to just accept any calibration roll is really bad. In this way just raise Bonus and Penalty but you don't take any influence on how much you raise them. You end up with Equipment that has a high Penalty and probably could have higher Bonus.

What you should try to do is:

A) increase the Bonus as much as possible

B) decrease the Penalty as much as possible

C) increase the relation Bonus : Penalty

Which one of these has highest priority is your choice.

In my opinion if you bother to calibrate you should look for calibration rolls that are better (regarding A, B or C) than what you get with enhancement - otherwise you should just enhance (which is much cheaper - you anyway have to do it)

My Problem with calibration is (beside it being way too complicated) that it is not even random. At some point it prevents you from getting better rolls than enhancement and then it becomes useless. Not only useless but because you recognize this only after you lost lots of material its very frustrating and unfair.

The approach I mentioned was because I had to highlight and prove that a calibration is always an improvement in one way or another on what you had before, you will never be "nerfed". It is the weights of the values that distort this view. That's why I said when i did those rolls, 2 I wouldn't have bothered with, but i kept them to illustrate over-all progress and how my equipment still improved.

"it's very frustrating and unfair"     you know what  after "Specialist", there is an other alternative configuration which is coming soon .........

Remember Specialist is a short Special offer ...... in 2 months they probably make us grind gasoline oil and Eddie's finest lubricant .......

The most retarded feature i ever seen implemented in a game. I was selling an improved part from the stock configuration because i didnt wanted to pay 2 tokens to move it to specialist, and i didnt intended to use the stock configuration anymore. OFC it still ripped me of 2 tokens even if i sold the part instead of moving it to depot, and i dont remember seeying at least a warning that it will do so.

Don't say that they can make it more retarded , you gonna lose 10 tokens next time you will try to finish the daily mission .....

For me is free move improved parts from stock configuration to specialist. Maybe you should check before you cry on forum.

Cant say if it was first or 2nd stage of improving ( whatever its called ) , but it was 2 tokens. In Wot, if you sell a tank and doesnt want to keep an equipment but sell it, it just sell it together with the tank, not freaking reap you of 10 gold anyway. And once the equipment have that yellow screw thingie in the top corner displayed, i dont think its free moving between build. Maybe check your tokens before doing it.

Seems that you have special game. Or special tax from WG.

There are screens with proof - https://imgur.com/gallery/A0zLrKm

- I start with 567 tokens

- wing is in specialist configuration

- wing is in stock configuration

- wing is again in specialist

- I have 567 tokens

Mate, no tokens are taken away when improving. Only if you remove the upgraded part from a plane or disassemble it back to materials.

This thread is the very definition of why play testing is so important.

Does the system work? Irrelevant!

Is it easy or difficult? Doesn’t matter!

Is it enjoyable to the players? Noooooooooo!

Once again a team of Devs who seemingly do not play the same game as their (paying) customers introduce a change without letting said clients get their hands on it first. It would appear that people neither like nor understand the system despite eekeeboo’s endless attempts to explain it. In short, it is a bad system because it is not appreciated. This is like a bunch of elderly aunts telling a small child that the grazed knee which stings and bleeds is actually good is it makes you stronger. It may or may not be true, but it isn’t fun.

Learn to communicate with your customers, Persha, or you won’t have any.

Comedically poor customer service!

I didnt said that they are taken when improving. I said that they are taken when moving equipment from stock to specialist or when selling it.

Ok, my bad. So it's like in WoT, gold for removing but here it's tokens.

No it's not. In WoT you can sell a tank with it's Equipment without paying Gold. Seems in WoWP they charge the token when you sell a plane with Equipment installed (I didn't try)

So when I reach Specialisation Status the removal of all previously installed Equipment is also charged in Token ?

They are left on the stock build and your specialist build will be naked. You can either demount them or sell them from stock build if you dont plan to ever use it again (and then use on some other aircraft or specialist build and it charge you the tokens ). Or you can probably directly choose the "equipped on another plane" option and select the part from your stock build ( which according to that raketak guy it doesnt charge you the tokens). Design at its finest, since i was convinced it take tokens only when moving from build to another or dismounting to use on another , and it should be free when selling it ( who in the right mind would spend 2 tokens to sell some part for 20k or 40k silver ) or disasemble in parts.

Dont bother, just enhance instead.

the plane is fully enhanced and fully calibrated to the max but it cost a lot of parts to calibrate the plane,

and to see it go into minus side 4 out of 5 times is harsh, i always save when it goes in the plus but it only goes into the plus by a few points then minuses which i dont apply.

it is tough to elite the plane and then max it out as it cost so many parts to do so,

Having looked further and the best way to explain I can:

You have upgrade levels that have caps on the benefits and penalties from the equipment. The higher the upgrade the higher the cap.

When you calibrate you will ALWAYS improve the equipment, the main issue right now is that increase to positive effects are weighted higher than reduction to penalties, so it looks like you lose figures.

I am working on a guide, to explain if you calibrate and apply, you will always improve and will eventually hit the cap. You will  never actually roll "backwards" just sometimes a lower improvement or higher improvement. Hope this helps.

thanks for the answer yes i understand that it is pointless calibrating unless the plane is fully enhanced it is after the enhanced bit where i dont understand why the calibration tool should have to go into the minus side, if you have won these items and some are real hard to come by im losing them 4 times out of 5 with the bar dropping to the minus side.

it isnt fair to lose an item on the click of a button, im not gambling here i wont the engine part so i should be able to use it dont you think,

and yes i always save once it goes into the plus side even if it is only 2 points as the bar will start at this point i get that bit.

i just cant see why we have to lose the parts we have just won.

Nope, I rolled several times calibration on an orange module and I ALWAYS got worse results after the first roll.

So calibration is good for one roll, then it is gambling (and knowing WG, probably rigged to bad results in order to increase grinding)

you are spot on the money here ev, thats exactly what i am saying,

its our parts we won them so why do we need to put them in a penny slot machine it is so not fair unless you spen a load of money on upgrade boxes where you get lots of engine parts at a price.
