World of Warplanes has made some curious choices when it comes to their selection of planes. When a newcomer opens up the list of premium aircraft, for example, he may be in for a bit of confusion when he finds such iconic, nation-specific aircraft as the German Spitfire, or the Chinese Mosquito, displayed before him.

I know, I know - there is a historical basis for both of these planes. I don't mind them; on the contrary, I like them very much. The object of this post is not what Wargaming has chosen to include in the game, it's what they have, for their own ineffable reasons, chosen to exclude.

To go straight to my point: Where is the Gloster Gladiator?

The aircraft lines in the game start off solidly in the between-the-wars period. This was the heyday of the Gloster Gladiator.

We have the Bristol Bulldog, that was an earlier generation plane than the Gladiator. So there can be no argument for saying that the Gladiator is of too old a generation to fit in the game. On the contrary, we already have the Arado AR 197 at tier IV, proving that a well-designed biplane can easily hold its own against same-era monoplanes (at least in the game). The Gloster Gladiator would fit in very well as a British tier IV fighter.

The Gloster Gladiator is not only one of the most beautiful planes that ever flew; it is also, beyond dispute, one of the most iconic fighter aircraft of all time. One has only to read up on the Siege of Malta, and the enduring legend of Faith, Hope and Charity, to realize this.

There is, to my mind, no excuse for not having the Gloster Gladiator in the game. It should be added forthwith, preferably as a premium aircraft. And I think that it would fit in well at tier IV.

But enough of my opinions. What do you, my fellow gamers, think of this?

Bring them on! Post a poll and I'll sig it!

This game needs many more planes, and the sooner the better.

Well, having the Gloster Gladiator in the tech tree would work out fine, as well. But since they already have a tier IV fighter in the tree, I thought it might be easier to just make the Gladiator a new premium. I like having iconic vehicles as premiums, and the Gloster Gladiator certainly fits that bill. Also, the British line could benefit from having a few more interesting premiums, don't you think? How many premiums does the USSR line have, as of now...?
