Allright, this is as mutch of a "wth is going on" rant, as it is a question.

There are possible other examples for this situation but im going to talk about 1 spesific plane, the Me 410.

Resently i unlocked the specialist for this plane and i recived quite a shock when i took it out.

reason; 3 different forward facing weapons. 1mg and 2 cannons.

Let me tell you why i was shocked.

When i had the 2x 20mm and unlocked and bought the 2x 30mm, the game automaticly removed the 20mm and equipped the 30mm.

So for the entire elite to specialist grind, i flew whit 2x7,92mm and 2x30mm. Thats why i was shocked, specialist gave me the 20mm in addition.

So what is going on here? Is specialist for the me410 so superior that it enables combos elite cannot do, or is there an ingame flaw that removed the 20mm when it should not have done so?

No that is the flaw with quite a few aircraft upon reaching specialist, will always equip top spec denying you to set up as you see fit.

That as well as those stupid wings in battle seen by developers as a plus !!!!!

Yea i noticed they removed my bombs, making me unable to be a ground attack supporter...

But that aside, if elite 410 cannot have 1 mg and 2 cannons(or other planes whit mutiple caliber weapons, i only have the german heavys so idk how uk and u.s are doing whit this problem) then the whole system is realy fubar.

Come on guys, this is a known issue and currently there are a number of options being looked at to resolve this.

It is quite evident that the system will change from the current one-setup specialist mode to a specialist mode with more freedom.

It could look something like this:

1. Pick your own set, but pin it for specialist mode

2. Have 2 different specialist configurations, both unlocked at the same time.

Just accept that WoWP has a slow development curve & lets be glad with what we get.
P.S. The specialist mode really does have its bright sides

P.P.S I recommend a crossover of 30mms and 20mms on the Me410, which is in fact the specialist mode, but i can see why the discussion still goes & why others would prefer 4x20mm

what is?

that the 410 cannot have mg+20mm+30mm in elite status, or the general lack of options when you have specialist status?

The general lack of options to configure aircraft in various ways.

Tbh i was not aware of the 410s specific issue; could you screenshot a Me410s specialist configuration for me?

me 410 as i knew it Role and skills speed guns and altitude.

- intercepting heavies.

- zoom booming as support for fighters.

in this version a great work to make most of all planes little alike game logic and mechanics.

my personal the conquest mode is more oriented fighters that can handle conquest logic and mass kills rekills ...

heavies role has been deprecated so i don't think that it can be complementary to team goals.

So really, the downside of the specialist mode is that you get the 30mms forced
You still have all weapons slots used, but you cant choose the 2* 2x20mm over 2x20 mms plus 2x30mms.
As i said, i personally like the 20/30mm combo, but i can imagine how some ppl wouldnt.

Anyway; exactly this issue (always choosing "Top" configuration in specialist while not all players perceive it as such) is being looked into. Other examples are the Yak multiroles- some ppl dont like the high alpha guns for some reason- and the IL- ground attacks, again due to the high caliber high alpha guns.

For now i'd recommend that you guys try to enjoy the brutality of the combination; if you learn how it plays best the Me410 is a beast IMO.

shure, it annihilates the planes, tricky to aim tough, but question is not the limits of specialisation, it is why was 3 forwardfacing weapons not part of the elite status?

like i said, i buy 30mm, equip it and in the prossess the 20mm was replaced, not added in addition.

was there a mistake by me, is it a bug, or is it intensional?

that question is the reason to why this thread was made.

now if it me then fine, mutch more ingame info needs to be added for us new players, but if it is option 2 or 3, then things are not good.

Well, if i understand correctly you now ask why the specialist mode offers

30mms along with

20mms along with

7.92mms

I myself do not have the Me410 specialist, but last time i checked i had exactly that setup, so this is possible in elite mode already (as goes for any specialist setup in fact).

So yes, you are correct that when mounting 30mms you do this as replacement of 20mms- but you also keep 20mms

Initially you had 2 20mms, then you mounted 2 extra 20mms (total 4), but when using the 30mms you replace the last 2 20mms by 30mms

The first set 2x20mm iscowling mounted, the second set 2x20 or 2x30 is outboard.

Currently the specialist configuration provides you with the very top module from each line of upgrades. Recently there was a thread asking for feedback on the specialist configurations players would like to change.

Mixed caliber weapons through frustrating for some are extremely effective for others when you are able to utilize the different strengths of each at the varying ranges of engagement. I believe you may have missed a part of the configuarion option where you can choose to go with all 20's and MG's or 20,30 and Mg's even in elite form.

What you recommend is probably of limited interest to most people.  What they want is to be able to build their aircraft how they like and not be forced into a configuration they do not want.  This should not have been a limitation of the patch and your blandishments asserting that WoWP are looking into it is saying nothing, since you know nothing about what is to come.  WoWP could easily make the the already unlovely specialist system worse rather than better.  So, if you have no other advice than “suck it up and try to enjoy sitting on this pile of ordure WoWP has created” it does not bear saying more than once (actually, I don’t think it bears saying even once, but there you go).

No one is forced into specialist, it just makes sense to.

In addition, i think the question was actually whether the specialist mode offered a configuration that the elite mode couldnt have (which isnt true).

To go on a bit: yes, i do recommend ppl to play those mixed calibers because they are much stronger- though perhaps less comfortable. With some practice any pilot including you should be able to make that work.

Then, i have said a hundred times before (even in this topic) that i dont quite agree with the restriction of choice. But it IS THE WAY IT CURRENTLY IS. So yeah, you do have to suck it up.

Im trying to inform ppl here, but i only get salt "because i defend that patch" while i don't.

Also; you said you'd be quitting forum activity right?

PS the actual question was why one loses his 20mms when mounting 30mms, which is sort of separate from specialist & i explained that stuff, and on the elite top vs specialist config, which as i explained are the same

Isoruku is not easy for 4+ years to just suck it up every (bad) update WG brings on. You are rather new here ( in time spent ) in the game so it may be logical (and easier) for you, but not to everyone.

PS no offence to the term "new" for you, just measuring the amount of patience someone can have.

I'm not offended by new, its true.

And i understand accepting it might not be that easy, its not even always logical for me, but you simply have two choices:

- Use specialist & accept the setup

- Use a custom setup.

In future this may change, in fact it probably will, but right now you are just complaining that something is unfair.

Unfair or not, it is reality.

I thought the whole selling point of specialist mode was that you could equip your plane exactly as you like ... but not the weapons ??

Yes, you can revert to the normal elite setup but then you lose the extra equipment slots !!?

Btw ; in this special case I prefer the 20mm as their range is much better than the 30mm. And also I don't like the rockets as they reduce your speed !

What 4 years teach me so far is that a lot of patches had something positive for the game, but were ruined by specific choices from the devs.

This is one more example.

In general I have no objection about this specializing thing, even if the main reason for implementing it, is to sell crates. (OK WG must make money somehow).

BUT this atrocious gambling game with calibration, together with details like forced specs in "specialized" or bad designed slot usage, totaly ruins it.

Another example for not testing what they create. Since we are their testing ground, I expect - if they care at all- to listen fast to the various complains and make fixes asap.

Otherwise we are still following the same path that killed V1.9

And pointing out things that someone believes are bad in the game is not "complaining" it is feedback IMHO

Wrong, though inane posts that miss the point and suggest bovine acceptance of the unendurable are certainly an encouragement in that direction.

Well i still dearly invite you to do so, for comments like yours contribute to nothing.

I tried to figure out what the actual problem here was- which you still haven't laid a finger on if you ask me- NatteFrost asked why there were no 3 forward firing weapons in Elite status. This is a question i answered long ago; there are in fact three forward firing weapons in elite, but some may like the option to mount two sets of 20mms better, which causes one to have only two different weapons types (though still three weapons mounts).

In addition; i have tried to explain that the 30mms are in my opinion playable- which apparently is a deadly sin.
I have said numereous times that i donnot agree with the 1 option configuration in specialist, but you are completely oblivous to this- you read two words you don't agree with so you'll try to burn me down from that moment on. GG mate, this really motivates people to help others out.

@NatteFrost; I hope i have answered your question; if not feel free to ask more.

You have not flown elite without the 20mms, thats impossible i think. But the demounting of 20mms warning gave confusion. If you want i can submit pictures of my non-specialist Me410 for further clarification.
