Hi , I realy love the games ,you know when you have to find on your screen all the details could make you win the battle ... this morning I would play an IL2 (assault planes) and I realised that it's dieing!!!

it's more fun and more fast to cap a base with a "real" warplane  .

So what it's this "Russian" assault planes ?

furthermore since the update 2.0 and the others there are high bombers  (I never played high bombers but I think there are mutch more difficult  to shotdown )

me.:izmena:

With tier 8 - 9 - 10 you will be happy. All planes can be shot down, but russian high tiers can survive more damage.

You can try bombers, but for me this high altitude dombers are boring.

There is still a niche in game for GAA even with the chaotic shambles 2.0 battles can be with them.

Win or loose they are good credit earners and can be fun to fly, with anything and everything mounting a gun after them, winning battles are more rewarding and downing an over confident fighter jock or two now and then even more so.

The tactics involved flying GAA successfully are just about in the game still, the major problem is not with the GAA  but the total imbalance flack and defence bots have on them.

I’m not a good GAA player, but I found with both the German and the Russian lines the higher up the tech tree you got the better and better the aircraft became.  At lower tiers it was often an exercise in frustration flying these things, but in the top tiers well-played GAAs can make a significant difference.

I like flying GA in all tiers, from my Hs-129A to the IL-40 ... and in my experience you do not have a better chance of surviving at higher tiers ; yes, the armor and reargunners are better, but so is the armament on the fighters that are out for easy kills. 57mm guns and volleys of rockets make quick work of a low, slow and un-escorted GA.

GA's and bombers were also nerfed over the recent patches and the AA was made stronger.

Totally agree with this topic. The present game mechanic mostly breaks GAA.

At T2 the maps and competition do just about allow the TSh2 to have a workable roll.

This however becomes less true for TSh3 although it too can be playable in certain circumstances.

Above TSh3 and holes appear in the game mechanic which make flying GAA a miserable experience.

Below I will try to identify the specific areas where I believe the problems exist.

1. The initial flip of most sectors seems too easy. A couple of faster moving HF or MRF can easily drop enough ordnance to completely kill a couple of ground targets and are also capable of killing enough defending fighters to flip a sector before slower moving dedicated GAA can even arrive at the sector.

2. GAA are competing with bomb equipped HF, MRF and now team bombers. All of which move so much faster than GAA that arriving at a sector in time to do anything becomes more a matter of luck than of planning.

3. The addition of Command Centre triggered bombers and Military base triggers rocket attacks essentially reduces the amount of viable targets available to GAA.

4. Some low tier maps can have so few sectors as to limit available targets while higher tier maps seem designed for jets and while more targets exist, traversing the map in a vehicle as slow as a soviet GAA becomes a grind.

5. At T7 it is possible for a slow moving soviet GAA to find itself on the same map as actual jets. Really? What's the point?

6. Flying low and hiding in terrain does not seem to work.

7. Because of the existing mechanic it is possible for conditions to exist which end a battle really quickly - indeed so quickly that a GAA may not have had enough time to actively participate.

All of the above combine to make flying GAA incredibly unrewarding and grinding your way through a line of GAA exactly that...a horrible grind, made worse by the fact that finding enough existing targets to actually kill becomes so hard that earning XP etc is a struggle.

What can be done?

I'm not sure anything can be done. Perhaps scrap the concept of GAA altogether and just have a flash based bombsight game and be done with it?

Possibly reducing the visibility of aircraft at extreme low level significantly and/or make available camo which can be permanently applied to GAA for a lot less than the 400 gold presently asked. (1 camo per season is 100 gold x 4 seasons, then multiply this by however many aircraft there are in a line of GAA....that's a lot of real money you are asking from us for such an unrewarding game experience. It's so much I've not even bothered to see if camo even works!)

Increasing the amount of points required to flip a sector, especially the initial sectors might work to make GAA viable? - the idea being that sectors won't flip before you have at least arrived.

Increase the number of viable targets scattered across the map. Perhaps random remote targets scattered outside of and independent of sectors might give GAA a method of earning points that are either less visible to and/or less attractive to bomb equipped MRF/HF and bombers.

(This would for example simulate columns of mobile vehicles on a battlefield and aligns more with the traditional role of GAA anyway.)

Finally, perhaps giving GAA a buff, both in terms of a slight speed increase and either a hit point buff, a defensive gunnery buff or both to make GAA less of a pinata might help, but only if there are actually still things for GAA to actually shoot at.

So what are you doing all the time when playing your Me 262s if I may ask? I only have the Schwalbe so far, but what I'm mainly doing with it is sending the bombers back to their spawn, the only targets I can reliably kill with it  :teethhappy:

But you are right, the GAAs had better times already. Especially the ones below tier 7 became pretty insignificant for the outcome of the battle.

Even the GA higher than tier 7 are getting useless ...

I used to fly a lot of GA, but now with those fantasy über-bombers there is no work for GA left.

At least most of the dogfights has moved at the upper floors, so the GAA can take a breath. Before the fantasy bombers came a GAA player was taking shots from about 5 enemies at a time, now it's like only a single low altitude Yak or Ki. Of course sometimes you appear in the middle of the butchery as before the bombers.

Really? I haven't seen this happen. All I see is every fighter and multi role fighter on the map sitting on my GAA six and ignoring or being unable to reach the bombers.

And that's why many people say the high tier bombers are OP.

Hi pilots!

In my opinion the t8-10 GAs are planes that can easily capture important sectors and win the game.(they are really inbalanced because of the game maths for capturing sectors with ground targets are totally different and unfair). T7 and t8 il10 and il10m are very good planes even for winning by capture or having fun killing planes with guns or gunner. And t3 ha 137 is great for hunting planes, the wirraway is also very good for bombing and capturing, however I really feel that they are weak at low tiers. Easy to kill them, gunners are weak. Speeds are too low to capture or even to get to sectots for capture points. And in t3 you cant have 2 factory and command center on a map or several sectors close to each other to have an effective capture&win gameplay. I hope they don't buff t8-10 ground attackers any more, they are too easy-to-win planes now. But buff for period I is necessary, also for period II for some of them.

Hadn't played them a lot lately, but I flew my tier VIII-IX attackers yesterday and it went surprisingly well, #1 and 2 in about 8 battles.

Are the tier X's worth buying ? I have them researched, but stuck to the IL-40 and P.1099B2 ... does tier X have an engine slot ? cause tier IX hasn't for some reason.

And indeed, lower tier GA are also fun to fly ; Ha-137, Hs-129A, LBSh ... doing the "kill 200 AA" mission at the moment.

Uhm, tiers 8/10 GAA  working good, from tier 3 to tier 7 they are less effective than bombers. The issue of OP high tiers bombers is because many players don't know how really work heavy fighters. Many players use HF as LF...

But on those tiers I see less (human) bombers than on higher tiers ... so more work for GA on lower tiers.

Bomberjocks only want to fly the ridiculous deathstars on tier IX and X it seems.
