Hi all

I played in beta but just didn't really get on with the game at that time.  A couple of weeks back I thought I'd give it another go and it feels like a completely different game.  I've had loads of fun so far just doing my thing but it's getting to the point where I've got a few questions.

1 - I've been going down the UK lines so far (all three) and just started the German fighter line.  I've got to tier 5 on the Spitfire and Hurricane lines and researched 5 on the heavy fighter line.  I've just hit tier 4 on the German line.  Before I go any further down these lines are there recommended tiers to play at whilst I'm still a new player?  I don't really want to be a burden for my team in higher tiers and at the moment I fell quite comfortable at tier 5. I'm not looking to rush up the tech tree but I have got the tier 6 Spitfire researched.

2 - Are there any good guides on equipment and pilot skills?  I've been taking the vision skill first and Marksman 1 on my fighters so far.  My Spitfire pilot is now at the point where I have the first 2 skills set and another 2 skill points waiting to allocate.  I'm saving them for Marksman 2 but it would be nice to know if I'm heading down the right path and for a general overview of skill/plane synergies.  Also equipment/plane setup.

3 - Are there any good streamer/you tube channels you guys would recommend?

4 - Other than the lines I've already started are there any lines you guys would recommend for new players to play?  I picked the UK planes as I'm from the UK and picked the German fighter (ME109) line as it seemed to play quite differently when I saw them in battle.

That's all for now.  Thanks for reading and any comments are welcome.

Cheers

First off; welcome back.

I'm a relative newbie who hasnt really played "back in the glorious old days" (just introducing you in the general forum mood here), but i really enjoy 2.0

General tips:
- While the old gameplay was heavily dominated by Boom & Zoom, Turn and Burn is now the king of the game.
- Ground attacks have really changed, they are more easy- and rewarding- to play now.
- Bombers, bombers everywhere.
- There is a new system in equipment (enhancing etc) and the specialist mode for aircraft. Familiarizing yourself with this system is really useful. I have quite some vids on this topic on my youtube channel myself, some other players do too.
- Make sure to familiarise yourself with winning battles. How do you get points, what do various sectors do etc? And how should you cap them? In which aircraft should you cap which sectors- or avoid them.

Specific:
- The Spitfires are excellent all-round performers, which go in the TnB category quite well- though not as strictly as for instance the Yak-fighters.
- Tiers: i'd stick to tier 7 and below at first, and try to spread your lines a little, such that you can get comfortable with the various aspects of all types of aircraft & the specific traits that various aircraft lines hold. BFs for instance play very different from spitfires, while they are both fighters. Knowing this stuff is nice before you go too high up the lines.
- I can recommend the german bombers as a line, currently the best IMO, and the russian GAs. Russian GAs are IMO more engaging to play than germans- although plenty folks here will tell you otherwise. For multiroles, fighters and heavies you have a little more choice, but in the spitfires you already have a solid fighters choice.

Specific 2:
- Equipment & skills: again; i have a tonload of info on this both in my youtube channel (especially on equipment) and floating around in the forum. I recently also tried getting the wiki up to date, but thats a unholy work- but the essentials about crew skills are there. My channel can be found through the youtube vid below.
http://wiki.wargamin...t/en/Crew_(WoWP)
For most skills this includes a bit on the usefullness for certain aircraft types, but if you have questions please feel free to ask.
- MM1 is a good choice on a spitfire, but i am a huge fan of manoeuvrable aircraft. You'll find that in basically anything i say, demonstrate and write: if i can make an aircraft spin like crazy, i will. So on an aircraft that is already really manoeuvrable, such as the spitfire, you could well consider acrobatics expert and/ or aerodynamics expert.
Aerodynamics only affects equipment, so that depends on equipment, but you could take a look at the vid below for some ideas for aircraft builds. This is a premium tier 6 german, but its style is pretty much like the regular british spitfires. (Vid: see all below, first continuing).

Specific 3:
- well, i try to do some vids every once in a while. unfortunately i've been a bit quiet lately, but meaning to pick up again.
I try to do both gameplay vids & in-depth instruction guides, the latter is not done by all streamers etc. But theres a bunch of other guys out there as well of course, such as the official CCs and our CM- eekeeboo- who generally have quite informative stuff too. The easiest way to access that is through twitch or the WoWP-EU discord i guess.

Specific 4:
- As said, i'd say german bombers, russian GAs. Other than that pick something you like- you can always switch later, getting to tier 5 can be done in less than a day :D
(WoWP grinds are really light).
Furthermore, should you ever consider buying premium aircraft & matching your regular aircraft to those please note that WoWP premiums can be used to train up any pilot from the same nation, so the type does not have to be the same (unlike in WoT). It's sort of nice if the skill set matches a bit though.

Grtz Isoruku_Yamamoto, hope this helps

P.S. If you have specific issues you struggle with you can always request that a guide of some sort be made.
Requests can be made in the forum in the Newcomers forum> Beginners guides.

Hi Isoruku_Yamamoto

Thank you for the quick and in depth reply.  I'll have a look at your vids when I get home from work (I don't think my boss would be too happy if I watched a few now :)).  I'll give the German bombers a go and the USSR GA's.  I kind of stayed away from bombers as I was  having too much fun dog fighting but I'm at the point where I'd like to expand my understanding of the game a bit.  On the premium plane front I've got a few from when I played in beta (Type 224, a Russian tier 3, 2 tier 4 Americans and 2 tier 2 Germans).  So far I love the 224.  Way too much fun flying that thing.

Cheers

Be aware that “turn and burn” is not, despite the assertion above, dominant in version 2.  At lower tiers it can be competitive, but even there I’d back a good pilot in a tier 4 Bf 109 B to outplay a good pilot in a tier V Spitfire I in a one-on-one scenario.  At higher tiers more often than not “turn and burn” fighters will be at a disadvantage against other classes of aircraft.  That’s not to say you should avoid “turn and burn” at higher tiers; it can be effective, but other play styles are more suited to those levels.

Also dont worry about being a burden to your team at higher tiers. They are mostly bots there. Hardly there is more than 3v3 humans at tier 8+.

tier 10 at certain hours is 1 vs bots. The easiest battles ever. Once I climbed at 5000 meters and cruise the hall battle without doing anything - for my (-1) bots winning the battle with supremacy and 800-300 score.
