There is also another approach, "enhancement light", if you own many many planes, would like to fly them all (a bit better than they are) but you can't Specialize and max out all.

For many planes you don't need a specialization. Instead, place adequate equipment in the available slots and enhance it to 200. This second stage from 100 to 200 is crucial, it will give you the first Bonus Characteristic which will work even if the plane is not specialized.

For example, the Sights when raising up to 200 give you two possible bonuses, +5% Chance for critical damage or +10 Chance of causing a fire. When you enhance to 200 look what you got, and change with Reassemble if needed. This way all your not-so-important planes will be better with only a fraction of the cost of the full Specienhacalibratiexpialidocious.

And of course, if you decide to keep that plane in this configuration, fell free to calibrate all the way to 278.

... "enhancement light"...

thanks for the hint mate, will have a look into that! :honoring:

There is an art to flying, or rather a knack. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss. ... Clearly, it is this second part, the missing, that presents the difficulties (Douglas Adams - Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy)

You don't have to go all the way, you can just do a "mild" enhancement. A few % here or there may seem small, but can make a big difference.... for instance in a turn fight, or speeding across the map to bomb that mining plant.

You could even enhance standard equipment, if you have limited resources and swap from plane to plane as well.

There is another "lightweight" approach that might be useful when grinding your way through a line where you don't intend to keep the lower tier aircraft and that is to fully calibrate one set of stock equipment which can then be moved from aircraft to aircraft at no cost (once equipment is enhanced it costs tokens to demount) - you lose out on the bonus feature but still get most of the base benefits

Not something I have actually done because I can't be bothered with the random number generation exercise of calibration but it seems like a reasonable idea
