Just a sidenote - La-160 is a good taste of the Japanese LF line when it comes to gunnery. Both t9 and t10 Ki's have dual 30mm cannons, so for someone who already flies La the transition is easier. Same goes for the poor and undeappreciated Fw-252, where similarities go even further (as both La and Fw have very high speed, to sort of compensate the relatively weak guns).

Btw, Discontinued ; which one did you get ??

I hope Disco is still alive. He's vanished silently, the same way he left the Dingers back then...

Yep. The La 30mm's have a bit better ROF than the Ki-162.

For some reason I get better results with the Soviet guns. But I still like the Ki, should fly it more.

Yeah. I'm wondering if his new gaming rig has allowed him to experiment with other games and he's just got lost in the wonder of 21st century gaming....

Because MiG is a high altitude beast with decent punch and the ability to seed some doubt in the hearts of the P.110101010010101 crowd, and because La is a racing car with a turbo. Their t10 versions are basically t9+, with better everything, and they're worth grinding to. Keep in mind La has very quirky dual 30mm (though there are other planes with similar loadout, so it's possible to master that rather fast), MiG has the same Soviet loadout as the rest of the line (big 37mm plus 2 smaller calibre cannons). Last but not least - both can chase or run away from almost anything, and they are able to duke it out both with Yaks and P.lotsabinaries.

So to necro this post, I finnaly hit tier 9 With the LA 160 and as others have mentioned its guns are quite hit and miss. It either vaporises enemy's or misses them.

its currently on 88 maneuverability (without being specialised). Hopefully I can get it up to 93-95 maneuverability. But it seems to lack up and downey capabilities, it rolls well but it needs more elevator throw, Its made from eggshells as well. Kind of like a 1970's Formula one car, damn fast and quite dangerous.

Im just not sure how to play it as it dont like going high alt, any tips other than sell it would be appreciated.

By no means an easy plane to fly but im sure I will master it. When looking at the Mig 9 its maneuverability put me off and so did mixed guns. Im not a fan of two calibers at once with different ranges and cool downs.

However, It has been a valuable lesson in why Dakka Dakka is better than Budda Budda. Overheating guns are just so last season.

I will sepcialise it before casting full judgment but I must blame Zen for steering me down the Dakka Dakka ever cool guns road map!

Why oh why arte there no more tier 9 Dakka Dakka planes

The la-160 was a bit of a letdown after the La-5, 7 an 9.

Luckily tier X is the La-15 ... guns could have been better. Speed, maneuverability and alt are OK.
