maybe its just me, but i can hardly imagine why one would ever want to switch planes mid-battle.

 

especially since it might affect which plane/pilot gets the XP for it.

Done it, but no more than I can count on one hands fingers. Used it when I selected totally wrong plane for map in question.

I do IT Sometimes. ESP. When started in ga and my Team gives No Support and other Team ist strong with Fighters. Second. If i Grind a weak plane ans someone hunting me in Superior Plane. Just to Change my odds. In First place i want to win and thatfore i need a plane with some impact.  

Sometimes a battle can be won with another plane. But it does not work almost.

Possibly switching from bomber to fighter when you've capped the majority of the bases, or to use a more suitable aircraft against a particular opponent.

Rarely done that, but it can be a Surprise for the enemy if you respawn in a different plane

I do it occasionally, for example get killed in a bomber/heavy fighter like the Beaufighter with long bomb/rocket reload and respawn in another with a fresh instantly available load to flip a crucial base.Or as others state to switch to a more suitable type for the way the games going.The Xp and pilot experience is attributed to each plane for what was achieved with it..it doesnt all go to the last plane you were flying at game end for example.

wow, that bomb reload thing sounds broken

 

More broken is a bomb/rockets reload time freeze while waiting for respawn.

 

You used your bombs, have 40 seconds left for reload, get killed, wait 20 seconds for respawn - and you respawn still with 40 seconds left. Should have it at 20 seconds, while it actually lasted 60 seconds.

 

Irritating as hell.

I met the legend that is Airfight10 a few days ago and he used at least 3 different aircraft during that battle

He started in a GAA and since I was in my Douglas Invader I figured I wouldn’t see him but he popped up in a Corsair and finished off my damaged aircraft and then tried again later in an Me410 - which didn’t go so well because he overshot and ended up in front of my 50 cals

I wish there was a way to switch planes without getting shot down or crashing. Like, landing on the airfield for instance.

This was great for missions  where you must win 5x in every plane class. Do 3 point in one battle save lots of time
