20% Premium Training Bonus

Ziptop's Photo Ziptop 20 Oct 2019

Does the pilot/crew actually have to be qualified to fly the aircraft to get the 20% training XP bonus or does every pilot/crew that you throw into a Premium benefit from it?

I know they do get skill xp anyway, regardless of what aircraft they normally fly, I'm just wondering if I need to retrain them into the Premium to really max out the bonus. Up past 6 skill points every little bonus helps....

No. You can place any pilot (from a certain country) into a premium and they do not need to be trained for that specific aircraft. If you have +20% crew training camo - they will benefit from it.

So the pilot receives 40% more than the pilots in normal planes?

thats not entirely true. there is one very fatal exception which i absolutely hate since they changed premiums somewhere back in 1.9

if you have for example a pilot that is trained to 90% (or anything less than a 100 really) for a regular aircraft and put them in a premium plane they will fly tre premium plane as if they had 100% on but BUT they will get NOTHING from battles. NO EXPERIENCE whatsoever. nada. zero. i think they MIGHT still get experience if they already have some crew skills even if they are not at 100% in their normal aircraft yet, but i don't remember for sure and i have not tested it yet.

lots of people complained about it when the change happened. before the change one could train a crew for another aircraft to 100% in them, which is what i would use them for as well. since i do not really care for crew skills. its one of those diminishing return mechanics that are designed to keep people grinding for eternity. just like the whole progression 2.0 shtick with specialists and lootbox-esque random chance quipment calibration. but i digress..

how do you arrive at 40% instead of 20?

20% for premium plane plus 20% that skin gives.

There is a line of text in the premium aircraft description which states "Premium Aircraft Crew earn 20% more experience"  - it's this I was wondering about.  Would this apply to any crew flying or ONLY crew specifically trained in that aircraft?

(because indeed, if you then add the 20%+ crew training camo that should then increase training rate to 40%! - nice if true)

Crew do indeed need to be trained to 100% ability before they will gain any skill experience. This much I do know.

i haven't checked this myself, but there is an easy way to check for all applied bonuses in the battle results screen. if you mouse over the icon in the bottom left which i marked (see attachments) it will give you a detailed rundown of all the bonuses which were applied for that battle. this should tell you for absolute certain.

what i specifically meant was that unless they are trained to a 100% in their usual aircraft they won't EVER reach 100% either when fighting in a premium plane, even after houndreds of battles. i know this wasn't your question but i feel like this is an exception worth pointing out.
