(Just asking because I don't have one of my own to check)

Does anybody have a fully specialised XP-55, trimmed for turn fights and is willing to tell me what their turn rate is?

(assuming pilot trained to at least Aerobatics expert. - would be nice know what Aerodynamics expert does to it too....)

stock 84

spec'd 91

(could go to ~104-105 with a bit more trim

What's that in seconds? (Time to turn)

Either way, I've noticed it's quite a handy little plane in the air. Just wondering where it sits in the grand scheme of things if I eventually get it.

Ugly as sin though.

I don't know, those are the main values from the game. No need to open sub-menus. If I turn 85 points-angles-beans-whatever and the enemy 89, he's better and that's all there's to it.

Yep, it's very nimble. Very. A bit slow, not so great for quick reaching the faraway bases, but once there it's a brilliant low-altitude turner.

Being ugly? Eyes, beholder, the works... :-)

Indeed it is, but that's a slight problem if you're thinking of training pilots for American planes.  This kind of agility is not necessarily the priority with most of those.  There is an important exception though; the Ascender is excellent for training a F-86A Sabre pilot, in my opinion.  If you prefer to play at mid-tiers, then the Ascender built in Cookie's way is a formidable turn fighter, at least competitive with the most manoeuvrable Japanese fighters and, if they're not specialised, better than them.

Cookie,

How the hell did you achieve +13,76% improvement in turning maneuverability ? Using American-specific equipment ?

Pilot skills , 478- equipment only take you this far.

Aerodynamics expert ftw if there are any maneuvering equipment upgrades for the aircraft. It's an utterly bonkers pilot skill. I love it.

I think you have to assume the equipment has been calibrated carefully to achieve maximum manoeuvrability on the lightweight wing frame and the lightweight power unit, paying regard to the available bonuses, and the other equipment, if it impacts on manoeuvrability, has been calibrated to minimise any negative effects.  After that the aerobatics and aerodynamic skills take care of the rest of the improvement.

Nice i only got mine to 109, wish I had been around for those Japanese thingy's! Once you get over the weird looks and specialise it, it starts to grow on you!

It shatters spitfires with ease!

It's not only Spits and Japs that have great maneuverability ; my Yak-1 and Yak-3 are >100 with only (standard) advanced equipment and pilot skills. Same for the Fantome.

The Yak-3 is a wonderful plane.
