Hello Pilots,

here come the Heavies, fast and deadly.

I start with my Tier 6 Messerschmitt Me410:

Most kills in a Battle: 22, most personal Points: 33550

There is an art to flying, or rather a knack. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss. ... Clearly, it is this second part, the missing, that presents the difficulties (Douglas Adams - Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy)

Oh, I thought we will stay on Me 410.. in that case, here are my favorite Heavies, the planes I like the most to fly.

Specialized in this order of importance: 1 guns, 2 maneuverability, 3 speed.

Although it's common wisdom to emphasize HF on speed, not on maneuverability, with careful maintaining your direction, height and momentum you can use even the basic (good) speed well. But you're helpless with the turn rate - it's what it is. So there every extra point counts. And for me HFs are all about guns, so go crazy there :teethhappy: they are by far the most important element.

Sorry Zen.....missed your post above, notifications aren't working properly. Nice job on the VB 10.

I'm going for (running away) speed on the XP-58 Chain Lightning:P....not quite there yet.......

I note those of you with gunners don't seem to use Precision Gunner - I started using it as I noticed chasing bombers how effective suffering a critical was (engines, pilot, etc) - is this really just a bomber only skill ?  Should I be going Armourer -> Quick Reflexes (which I was doing) -> Balistics Expert ?

To come up with another TechTree plane  - here is my most favorit HeavyFighter - even if it has not the best results.
But regarding win rate / exp per battle / damage per battle it is always in the upper third of the HFs with about 120 battles over all.

May be you can imagine - my concern is to get the best maneuverability into a plane even if it is no LightFighter.
Here you see my maxed version!

Any Idea how to make it even more maneuverable?

Congrats Klaus, the first time ever I see a plane where everything is "special project". :honoring: That's dedication.

I was thinking of doing that with the 410 ; on EU I have it build for speed, but I just got it on the CIS server and it's even hard to stay on the tail of Pe-2's !!

Looks like some bomber pilots use nimble builds so they can turnfight heavies ...

Only have the engine slot now, but it looks like using lightweight and aerodynamics already give your 410 some extra maneuverability ...

Well done, lads.  I can't post here as, basically, I can't fly heavies for toffee.  I absolutely hate them.

The A-10 Warthog Beaufighter.

A devilishly destructive HF. Four centrally mounted 20mm cannons to quickly chainsaw through everything and anything unfortunate enough to find itself in front of them. That will usually mince most aircraft to death in on pass but if somehow that doesn't do they're backed up by 6 fire starting machine guns just to crank that DPS into overdrive. Oh and ummm, ya, see those not 2 but 4 turret machine guns? Ya they also have the ability to whip around and join in the frontal attack for a grand total of 4X20mm and 10, yes 10 machine guns lol. Works even better with the "aim-fast" gunner skill but in all honestly there's usually nothing left by the time they whip around. Still, having four machine guns to clear your 6 ain't no bad thing at all is it, certainly melts chasing light fighters.

Oh and I almost forgot, why not also have 8 rockets and go ahead and take a couple of bombs too because why not. Maxed out pylon to keep that speed fast and I have it built for speed, play it as a BnZ, come in fast, hit them hard and light the afterburners, rinse and repeat. Flip a few sectors with the bombs and rockets or try troll kill aircraft with rockets, you got 8 chances so... ya, why not.

Don't put too much on the speed, it's fast enough as it is. You will never catch faster than you and they will catch you no matter how you build. This speed for 410 is quite enough for 99% situations.

Spoiler

But you need every ounce of maneuverability for these Ruskies Pe's, nimbler than MRs. And it comes handy when you swoop down for GAA or other HFs.

Still, the most important factor are the guns. Do.Not.Be.Skimpy.There, not in build nor in pilot's training. It's the guns that make this plane, not the speed or agility.
