An afterthought to what I wrote previously: I'd like to run a "warm up" tournament for fun+learning Friday 31st from 2000-0000.

Basically a tournament with same duration, same participants, same limitations, same rules and everything else being the same, apart from Zen's prize ofc. which will only be for the real thing on Saturday.
That way you can get an idea about the limitations, and what could happen Saturday.

There's really not much extra work for me in running the tournament two times: For learning+fun Friday and for real+fun Saturday.

Would such a "warm up" be something ? Or is it a bad idea ?
Your thoughts ?

Perhaps the rules are not complicated, they are probably language difficulties. ;-)

So there are four stages by the hour.

I can't understand how it is with these planes. I absolutely have to choose at least two types of aircraft: Spitfire at level 5 and ME 262 at level 8 and that's OK?

However, I can't take Spitfier on level 5 and Spitfier on level 8 because then it's bad? I understand I can't take Spitfire at level 5 and P228 either -
trees from both Great Britain . Truth?

I also can't take Tier 10 German Light Fighter and Tier 5 British Light Fighter. Right?

Now the question is: how do I fly 29 stormtroopers in four hours and one on a light fighter, for example, will it comply with the regulations?

The idea for a trial tournament is OK.

Mate, you can fly ANY plane on ANY tier (4-10 ofc.) from ANY nation and ANY class.

You can even take a goddamned flying carpet (as long as it's tier 4 or more) if you can find one in your hangar...;-)

The regulations (as you name them) will kick in if you're during one of the four 'stages' (hours) is winning 4 or more than losing (f.ex. win 6 and lose 2, or win 5 and lose 1, or win 4 and lose 0) using ONLY Heavy fighters, or ONLY plays the same tier, or ONLY picks planes from the same nation...

An example: Let's say you during one of the 4 'stages' (hours) wins 3 battles in a row using the 109E.

Then for the NEXT battle you should NOT pick a plane that is one of these: tier 5, light fighter or German, because if you do (and win) the 'regulations' will kick in...instead you should pick a completely different tier, class AND nation for the next battle.

When the 'stage' (hour) has passed and the next 'stage' (hour) begins, you can ofc. go back and play a tier 5, light fighter or German plane again, - you can even take the 109E if you wish.

Again: It is much more 'clear' when seeing what happens in a live tournament.

So unless there's huge resistance from the other competitors, the trial (or "warm up") tournament Friday at 20:00 is on.

I might not be able to play all 4 hours Friday but will be reachable - either here (on forum) or by personal chat in game/hangar.

So if I win four fights in one hour(event time), then I muste take a different plane - from a different nation - nationalists and other types to add something to me in event. Yes?

Almost: If you win THREE fights in one hour(event time) with the same plane, then you must take a different plane, from a different nation and different class.

More examples:

If you win 3 fights in one hour(event time) using... Then you should NOT take any of this for next battle:
109E Tier 5, Light fighter, Germany
109B, 110B, I-17 Tier 4
Ju 88 P, Me-265, Me-329,  Germany, Ground attacker
109G, Spitfire IX, I-220 Tier 7, Light fighter

...when next hour(event time) begins, you can again take whatever you want (ofc. watching out for limit of 3 wins again).

I will not be able to take part on Friday but I believe I understand the principles which understandably prevent you from taking only one strong plane and use it all the time over and over again. Makes sense. See you on Saturday guys.

Sorry mates, the timeframe does not match my RL possibilities :amazed:

Good luck to all participants :honoring:

There is an art to flying, or rather a knack. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss. ... Clearly, it is this second part, the missing, that presents the difficulties (Douglas Adams - Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy)

Sorry to read that but, yes: timeframe might not be the best for everyone.

I'll take your name off the list - thanks for notifying.

Exactly!

Avoid taking same plane/nation/class over and over again (see the examples above).

Please also remember that 15 in total progress within an hour is the maximum.

That is: if you manage to win 5 battles and lose 0  (or win 6 and lose 1, or win 7 and lose 2) within an hour of the event, you should take a break until next hour - see page 4 in the rules.

...your winrate certainly makes it possible that something like that could happen...

Also don't forget the occasional restart - preferably as close as possible to the updates (at 21:00, 22:00, 23:00 and - most important - 00:00). As mentioned, there appears to be a "delay" of some sort in WG's API.

See page 5 in the rules for details.

See you Saturday!

@everybody else: There's still room (and time!) to sign up.

Thanks a lot for the kind words, blindfold. Very nice.

Despite having tested "Saturday Shootout" approx. 50 times in "the dark" (not public) with the seats occupied by random players and hand-picked forumites, I'm still a bit edgy - hoping things will run smooth tonight and - most important - tomorrow.

...by looking at the other contenders it's evident there's some goddamned stiff opposition, so unless I'm able to bring some kind of A-game (and the MM helps a bit) I'll consider myself lucky if I don't end last :)

You were thinking maxram68 would be lucky not to end up last as well?

:teethhappy: No no, I'm sure maxram68 will be fine, he usually ends up doing better than me when were in the same battle. It's my own skin I'm worried about.

Registration closed.

This means the 7 who already registered will be parcitipating in "Saturday Shootout" in a little less than 3 hours from now.

Good luck!
