is it even worthwhile to grind this to the Huckebein ?

One of my guilty pleasures, I love it. Its like a small heavy, and should be treated that way. Looks cool as hell as far as I am concerned. The guns are either leathal, or utter tosh. Play it with a slightly relaxed attitude. I thinks its worth experiencing. But thats just me. It did take me a while to get it.

Thinderchief. Last on the game 15th May, same as his last visit to the forum. With all thats going on in the world currently I suspect the worst, he didnt seem the sort to just quit everything all at once and before that he was online more or less daily.....

Nah nah, he was very impulsive. We failed to understand his teachings so he left in rage.

Ah, advanced flight maneuvering.

I've just never been able to make this work in WoWP at any tier. I find that bombers and even GAA will just leave you in their dust if you are trying to yo-yo them.

Ok, so GAA are slower so it's slightly easier to control, but bombers are actually fast and I don't think I've got a light fighter in my hangar that can sustain speed enough to maneuver like this against a bomber.

Too much messing around with fancy maneuvering results in getting stuck to the rear of a bomber and watching as it vanishes into the distance.

Therefore at the higher tiers I try to leave them alone unless they have enough damage to reduce the kill time.

All that said though, it's been a while since I took my Ta-152 for a spin. Maybe I'm thinking purely from the perspective of the aircraft I've been flying recently.

I would agree with the bombers in the game often being too fast for fighters to deploy a conventional manoeuvre against them and it gets to the point at the higher tiers where taking a fighter up against a bomber is just asking to be sent back to the garage.

The Ta-152 ought to have been a good counter to bombers, but given the bombers are badly modelled and it was nerfed a couple of years ago, I doubt you'd make it work well.

I simply can't click with this plane, and it's a shame... more on me than on the plane, Kurt Tank's high-altitude masterpiece.

I simply can't stop thinking of an engineering vid about WW2 planes, and the chart for engine altitude performance of the late war designs. Ta-152 was off the chart, the only propeller plane to have consistent - and considerable - performance at altitudes above 10 thousand meters (around 40-42k feet). Nothing could come close to this bird, literally. In WoWP though... well...

Yes, the altitude compression makes this one in particular suck.

I think it's  a matter of concentration. In my holidays its possible to fight with that guns 4-5 times a day, but when I'm exhausted from work it's impossible. I remember the fact that most German pilots took speed during WWII.

Yup. To be more in line with the actual performance of this plane, in WoWP it should have about the same performance (speed and agility), but at about 3500-4000m. In other words, it should be just as fast - if not faster - then bombers at altitudes above 3000m. Alas....

I saw a bot flying one of these this evening, and flying it the way it really needs to be flown, as a proper altitude capable energy fighter. It was being particularly annoying.

Yeah, I sometimes get the impression that bots get planes with other specs/capabilities than we get ...

Strange thing, Horten vs. Ta, even if both nearly have same weapons, I hit much better with Horten and I assume I am not alone compared to the number I see Horten and Ta players
