Just a quick reminder to those that have registered for the tournament: The "warm-up" of "All-round Aces" begins tomorrow (June 8th) and runs the entire week until (and incl.) June 13th.
All days from 2100-2300 CET.

It is not mandatory to play/participate in the "warm-up".
Consider it an offer for everyone registered to get an idea about the structure/"flow" of the tournament.
Points earned during "warm-up" will be reset to 0 before the finals.

The finals of "All-round Aces" will happen as announced in the rules (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YFi9KqLQ68xgtqVhgdteTKT88pLhy5JsDNRr4clFSeY/edit):
From 2100-2300 CET on June 17th, 18th, 20th, 24th, 25th and 27th.

Again: See you in the skies - either for the "warm-up", the finals, or both.
Good luck!

BR,
maxram68

Results from the "warm-up":

1. chapultacus

2. dirty_magic

3. maxram68 (what the...that's...me...??!??! Well, I guess some participants didn't play to their full strength and/or every day during "warm-up", because I'm FAR FROM good enough against a lot of you guys)

Full results:

Spoiler

Thanks to everyone on the list for participating - I hope you got an idea about the "flow" of the tournament.

Scores will be reset to 0 later today.

...and - as announced - the first day of the finals will be on Wednesday the 17th  from 2100-2300 CET.

See you in the skies & good luck!

BR,

maxram68

Noticed your bold move there, Max - the only player to fly Chinese :).  Really good effort by chap, magic and yourself - it's a shame you are ethical enough to stay out of the real competition that you went to all this trouble to organise.

Thanks mate! Yes, the Chinese Mossy is a flying nightmare compared to the UK version as well as other Tier VI HF :)

TBH I would have loved to compete for the prizes.

However, IMO it's better to stay "neutral" in relation to that -  just in case there's some kind of...debate...at some point in relation to the rules/scores (I also made that 100% clear when approaching blindfold/WG asking for cooperation/prizes).

So I participate for fun in this one - which is fine.

...and - this also has to be mentioned - zen made a really, really cool badge for me: "Ace of Aces - Organizer".

It's slapped on to my little 109F (you know I frigging love that plane). That's a gift I really appreciate!

It was fun to meet and fight the warm-up participants. I am sure that the main competition will be more fun and challenging. As far as I have observed some reminders are required, no team flight and using of premium ammo is not gentlemanly. Let's all pay attention to these rules, or none of us. Both options are suitable for me ;)

Yes, agree, I'm also sure the main competition will be more challenging.

Please note that the rules are very clear about team flights (aka. flight of 2): doing that means disqualification.

Hi there, this might be a stupid question but Can CET be understood as UTC+1 or UTC+2?

According to https://time.is/en/UTC it is now around 18:40 UTC. The time here is around 20:40 CET.

The tournament runs from 21:00-23:00 CET.

...you do the math ;) (...we start in approx. 20 minutes).

For the record, NATO use Z (Zulu) to describe UTC/GMT, with BST being Alpha (Z+1), CET being Bravo and so on.  They skip the 2 letters in the Roman alphabet that most look like binary digits to make the 24 time-zones.  So Max's tournament runs from 1900Z to 2100Z, or 2100B to 2300B where most of you Continental types synchronise your timepieces.  Unless of course you are on the Continental Mudbank, where you immediately set your watch back 40 years on entry.

You need to elaborate on this.

Please PM me.

Edit: And also be aware of the "delay" in the API (last page of rules) plus the (apparent) confusion about what time this thing actually runs (yeah - a more or less united Europe can't even get the bloody time right...).

Strange, as it seems there was only a single battle recorded on my account. This also can’t be explained with the correct or incorrect definition of “CET”. Or can it?

It seems the API recorded my first battle only, which was started when my local timer displayed 22:00 and I stopped playing around 23:30. The replay file of the first battle shows me creation date ‏‎21:55:28 and last change 22:10:51. All 8 battles after that one are not included in the results sheet. This would mean that the API does the recordings from 21:00 - 23:00 UTC (and not CET or CEST).

Not sure.

Previously, when doing the closed test as well as during the "warm-up" last week, there was some misunderstandings in relation to exactly when the start was.

My advice: check https://time.is/

...it's Paris time that counts, so we're on when it's 21:00 in the land of baguettes.

Furthermore, it is important to remember to quit the game shortly before the end of a tournament day in order to make all battles count  (it's got something to do with a small 'delay' in the API).

Again (for emphasis): It must be done before 23:00.

The last page in the rules explains in detail.

Munich is currently at summer time zone. so the cet time is the same as your local time. You should start at 21:00. But this does not explain the problem of only one war result.
