It has four 20 mm Mk.12 ©, the same as four on F2H.

 

While on F2H they do work and hit and make damage, on F7U is like having only two, the worst from the warehouse, not maintained in years.

 

(and no it's not convergence - they are neatly by the fuselage). Looks like a bug for this plane, the calculation for this needed micro-convergence goes crazy.

 

Anyone had the same experience?

The guns here are totally bugged. I hit, there are white flashes, but no damage being made. Irritating as hell.

 

WG, please fix the guns on this plane.

yes, go back to T9 and have a fun. F7U is good only as target.

Just wanted to make something of this plane, man. It would be playable only if the damn guns were working.

G-suit is the way, imho. It got lot better since when i equipped it.

Imo the main issue with the plane is the max altitude cap. They've ruined it lowering that. The very meaning of the plane is to be flown high enough to be a good B&Z machine and to be a nuisance for heavies, but nowadays you're forced to play it with one and a half eye on the map while tryin to cap barely undefended sectors or to chase GAs (the guns are somewhat spectacular against them)

Carry on with this thread, and next 100k dmg harvesting event will be with F7U.

 

It's a crap, big, low maneuverable, easy to hit free frag, best to leave in hanger collecting dust. Broken beyond any repair.

 

Fortunately, in case of event, there is Starfire tier below.

Ah, mind its speed, it's rubbish when you're not holding your boost key. Very good "speed retention" though, if you keep flyin straight. Combined with low alt, plenty of faster fighters in tier 10, low maneuverability and temperamental guns... It's a challenging plane,

there’re 2 different variations imo: Gunsight + GOA or G-Suit + LGB
I had been playing with G-Suit and GOA for a while but the loss of accuracy was just way too huge
oh and the F7U is actually a really good bird... the downside is her poor acceleration

Same guns as the F6U and I wish the rest of that plane was as good as the guns ... started out with G-suit but just now switched to sight and it seems to work better (only improved so accuracy and fire chance)

That's why I started this in complaints. Yes it says Mk.12 C but here they are messed up.

Yeah, I get that ... just also noticed that on other planes they seem to work just fine. 

Or maybe it's (a combination) of G-suit/sight/marksman ... total accuracy ?

It's not about equipment or accuracy. This topic was already discussed several times. There is some issue with F7U specifically - those 20mm there produce exceptionally high number of sparkles (0 damage hits). It seems you are hitting the target, but you are not damaging anything, and with the Cutlass it's very pronounced. The consensus is some flaw in the coding for this specific plane, aka broken hitreg. Those guns either work very well, or don't work at all - with the majority of the cases being the latter, unfortunately. To put it in other perspective (re hitreg issue): it is possible that they are exceptionally accurate (when hit calculations for hits are done), but very minute differences between client/server cause them to actually miss. Client sees hits, displays hits, but server does the math and comes out with a 'nope, you missed by 0.234 inch' thing, sending 'no damage done' result. Whatever the reason, F7U is a very unreliable gun platform.

Hmm when I get sparkles I aim a little further in front of the enemy aircraft in order to damage it again...  however these hitrec issues have been less since I specialized the F7U and equipped a GOA

I have seen the 'hit sparkles' but no apparent damage done quite a bit recently on other planes, Mustang lA today in fact.

Reminds me of the weak guns on the Sea Hawk.  I've often thought that has something of the same problem as the Cutlass.  What are great guns on the Tempest, variant Ws, are horrible variant Cs on the Sea Hawk; so bad, one does wonder if it's a bug.
