My guess: Probably.
...and a "yes", if you don't value your own time (and sanity).
I've participated in what I suppose are similar time-limited grinds in the past (hello XP-58 & Me 109TL), and they required a sanity-check sometimes.
Especially when you end up in a battle for the 15th time w. a task/requirement that cannot be accomplished in that battle.
But let's see tomorrow...

Depends on each player I guess. Some simply MUST have it and at any cost while others like me don't care. It's a pretty funky looking aircraft but rather unremarkable in regards it's stats.
...I'll certainly look forward to shooting them down though.

At the NA-Forum i found the mission-list.
Everyone may decide for himself whether these mission tasks can only be completed by purchased certificates within the set time and within the individually available pilot skills.
And don't forget at first you need to get the operation order from a crate.

Ya, looking at that linked webpage some of the missions are pretty easy such as the "Do X in any number of battles" which is obviously not all that hard and can be contributed towards with each and every battle regardless of how much or how little those contributions are though perhaps a little grindy.
Of course, there are also some really tricky looking gate keepers WG have added too, where it's probably going to be difficult and annoying, relying on a bit of luck in regards the type of map we get and how each team performs and controls etc. This is where WG will obviously hope you get a bit fed up and open the wallet . Most of those missions are "Do X in a single battle"
The ones that pop out are.
1. Participate capturing 5 sectors in one battle. (Small 3 sector maps are going to almost impossible and so are battles where even on big maps your team dominates control of sectors early)
2. Kill 5 enemy planes while attacking sectors. (ADA's won't do but attacking an enemy controlled airfield would be really nice for this)
3. The bombing missions that require "Do X in one battle". A Bombers achievements seems to rely a lot on luck, not just good reading of plays. You can get set upon by a HF or high alt fighter at any moment and for the entire battle, just unlucky. Or your team can control all the sectors before you achieve your goals in which case you can go F yourself from that point or indeed your teammates using bombers or GA's can pinch targets just before your bombs hit those same targets that are now gone lol.
4. There's some award requirements such as "Sky Rider" and "Guard" that I'm not sure about what those are tbh. I think Guard is for defending sectors?
The likes of 15 aerial kills in one battle and the McGuire medal could be a bit trollish too. These are not ultra rare certainly but when you're chasing them, it can become a case of over-playing the situation and too aggressively which can manifest into several failed efforts and become very annoying.
I also have to wonder if these missions can be completed at the same time during one battle should the various requirements be achieved or if you must complete one mission to unlock another?

Generally they're strictly sequential. You'll get 117 McGuire's medals during these missions, but not on the mission that requires one.

If you're lucky enough to be in the attacker team more than 1 out of 10 battles, it is.

Not a good event to be taking part in if the prospect of warping across the battlefield, flying through aircraft unscathed, hits not registering or any of the other 'delights' currently to be found in WoWP 'battles' (I'd prefer the term 'grandes farces', if I knew what it meant) is likely to upset you.
FWIW, I received an op order in the very first freebie crate that was dropped in after the initial battle. Whoopie-doo, if pursuing the XP50-with-Stevie-Nicks'-nose-job is going to involve all this mind-bending telekinesis around the skies.
