Stats read really bad. It has one of the worst turning times of any T4 fighter, doesn't roll particularly well either to compensate, doesn't have any cannons to at least maybe put in a crit on a tail or wing to negate that trashy turning, stall speed is poor, climb is average and it's service ceiling is a pretty tragic 1000 meters given it's dogfighting limitations so.... ya, what is the point of this thing? Must be the MOST fun ever getting targeted by a Spit or anything else it can't do anything about lol. To say it shouldn't get into fights is laughable when it doesn't have the altitude performance to do anything else and so to say avoid a Spitfire or anything else that can out-turn it which is practically every other fighter is basically suggesting to avoid everywhere on the map with other fighters and just focus something even more tragically gimped that your airplane which is kinda sad since this is a fighter too lol.
Comparing it to a 109 B? I haven't played the XF4F-3 but I have played the 109 B is one of the best T4 fighters so I'm gonna say that's unlikely. We can already see the 109 B out climbs, out turns, out rolls and can fly as high as it ever needs to for the tiers it fights in, so before we mention the 109's superior 20mm hub cannon and two centrally mounted machine guns all shooting straight down the middle at the target we can see that the 109 B is simply a better airframe all areas that count. The XF4F-3 looks like one of those sort of airplanes that relies on the enemy being distracted or ignoring you or really poor players rather than actually being something that can be confidently implemented in an aggressive and forceful way. Any bad airplane can be made to work with that "opportunistic keen awareness support ambusher" approach but ultimately whenever an enemy plane targets you, there's nothing in your airplanes ability to do anything about it and you die every time, that's not a fun playstyle imo and it's reliant on being ignored and a few teammates to get the job done elsewhere on the map.
