A clanmate I was talking to happened to drop in just a couple of P1 battles at some point during this event and not any more, just the 2 battles. During the last day he was in around 10,000 position, just to give some insight into the sort of numbers of players this event has attracted so far which is great for game health if not always for gameplay lol. Sure, there will be some multiple accounts owned by the same players but regardless, that's not a bad playerbase. Was it 100k? No but 10k is still a nice chunky playerbase to work with and might rekindle WG's interest in this game. If nothing else, it might just simply prove that this game is a viable business platform worth keeping running and hopefully a lot of those players enjoyed the game and spent a bit of money on a premium aircraft or something.

I mentioned it in another post but as I moved around the ratings in all three periods I often saw myself flanked by 'players' with no username either on the ratings or in their battle results, so it was either a huge bug or WG stacked the rankings with faux-accounts for some reason.

But strangely enough, when I right-clicked those no-names, you got the statistics for 'somebody' ... and on one occasion suddenly names appeared while I was clicking. Another bug ?

I got the 3 pieces of equipment, all with a 500-600 position.

I found out that flying the Soviet bombers was the best solution. Since the teams were ... to say it politely, rather uneven and unpredictable, I though that a bomber would yield points in any situation. And it worked ! I was almost always top scorer: the poorest the team was, the more points i got by capping the newly-lost bases -and you may move quickly on the map to re-cap new bases. I played some fighters and heavy fighters too, but found the scores to be more uneven. Since there was no requirement for victory, all I needed was to bomb bases into smithereens. I'd rather have regular 9-12k points in my Arkhangelsky Ar-2 than chasing targets all over the map in a fighter (some times there are hardly any targets around). Since Zen asked (not me), I will share the planes I mostly used:

- tiers 1-4:   Mostly tier IV Ar-2 (9-12k points, single-pass bases capping), with some games in P-36 or Blenheim heavy fighter. I confess I did a couple of games in a Fw-57 because I was short on time at the start. But quickly stopped because I was ashamed of myself.
- tiers 5-7:  tier VI Pe-2 M82. Yield between 10 and 14k. Some few games in my tier V SE-100.

- tiers 8-10: tier VIII Tu-10. Yield between 13 and 20k, except for very short games with missile-base map victories (8k score then).

I admit these are not weak planes (I flew zero multi-roles, for instance), but I was looking for good point yield. And I was not dependent on my team-mates that much. Note: all the Soviet bombers share the same crew (Tu-10), and I play them with the non-specific training penalty. But who cares :)

Sounds like more tech issues than anything more sinister, which would be in keeping with so many reoccurring bugs throughout this event as the game struggled to cope with the influx of activity. I could go tinfoil hat on it but given the drab rewards I really fail to see what WG would have gained by adding bot accounts or people using bot account programs. Just to gain or deny a few experimental equipment and couple of hundred gold? I doubt it but who knows.

I fly the ones I like - mostly various heavies and switch after one victory to another one. On 4th you have 110B and Blenheim, 5 - SE100, 110E, P38, Beufighter, Ki45 6 - Ki102, P38, Me410, Mosquito, 7 - Tu1, 109Z... On 8th you have plenty of premiums which is worth to fly one battle, on 9 of course HG II, P228 and F2H... On X you have just 3 heavies but I fly bombers too for tokens.

So if you have an hour or two it is easy to jump on various periods and fly some games which is more than enough to reach your goal.

I won't go into detail in replying to some of the comments, but the truth is, I have a job, a wife, a family. I play this game because I like it, I like it a lot.

I know the prizes were the same up to the 30th place, but I liked the competition with Fijacec, but I had to let it go because ....

In theory - in fact, I'm also on vacation, but trapped within four walls due to COVID. In order not to waste money for sick leave, I am on vacation. I am fine and the only symptom is a fever. Yesterday I had to end the game because of this, and I would continue to compete with Fijacec.

I was playing a bomber, he was playing a fighter. Congratulations on HIM for his skills. I tried to play on other planes at the beginning, but it was either server problems or my laptop couldn't handle it. Momentary stops - the image jumps. The competition with him showed one cool thing. We gained points - counting on average for the game very similarly. The question of winning was played out over the game time. You can have the best plane, but you have to be able to use it. We did it. In another topic, I'll post pictures of the cool results: F-94D, SU-10 and EF-131.

And one more cool thing. We fought with ourselves, but there was never any strange behavior towards ourselves unlike other players who were in pain. If my health allows, I will take part in the next part of the event.

Regardless of our views concerning 11+ hours playing this game a day, Franti, I'm sure all of us will be pleased to hear you have recovered from that horrible virus.

Respect! My mental health worth more than a gas operated action equipment (i played zero battles) but respect for your toughness, it must have been a nightmare playing this many battles per day for a whole week :hiding:

This week's "event" is also a grindfest, so i skip this one too. But good luck all!

Although I have the time in retirement to put in the hours on the game, I certainly don't have the wish to do so.  It was, therefore, a real pleasure to be doing my usual 6-8 battles a day yesterday in pursuit of the 1-, 4- and 10-token 'daily' tasks, to be told that I'd been handed a pile of 'bits' plus 200 gold just for playing the game.  I haven't been following this event and had not been looking at the score - I'm sure that if I wanted to I could grind-out loads more goodies from the WG supply mountain.  However, I choose to just continue as I was before - "steady as she goes".

So, having said all that - thanks, WG, for giving people a reason to come to the game and enjoy themselves/ reap the benefits.  You've certainly done well this time - careful, we might even think you care about WoWP! :)

This kind of event is a good additional motivation for all the specialist-missions I want to complete.

Pick a plane and play three or four times more battles than usual for me.

Well, defensive capture points count too.

This mission for capture points favours bombers even more than the previous one, unfortunately.

This event isn't actually all that bad. Wouldn't want to be a newbie right now though. It would be so much better if you earned some capture points for assists. Competing with your own team for captures feels really bad.

Well, I also find this event rather pleasant, and very democratic. You can vote for yourself with your time :) Even if you are not a top ace, you still can be in the top 1000. That's encouraging -and the event does not lead to anomalous game-play either. I mean, yeah, points only count, but you get the points for the marathon by winning too. It is a byzantine orgy of heavy fighters (Blenheims, Me-410, Me-262) and OP bombers (never seen that many RB-17s) for sure, but a pilot has got to do what a pilot has got to do, right ?

I met some players in games that figure in the top 10 of the tier bracket, and I found out their point yield was very average, often even below average. Still, they have like 30.000+ points -now how they achieved this by accumulating about 150 points in the games I saw is a mystery !

Many games were very nice, with scores nearly even, bases changing hands very quickly, and last-minute carries by an apparently underwhelming team. Congrats to the fellow pilots, the are giving all they got !!!!!  Oh, Bunker-shooting fighters seem to be evenly spread among the team, so that frustration is low !

Ya it's a nice event and these experimental equipment are really attractive.

Is there any way of displaying what the current score is for 1000/400/200/30th place is? I can't see it but that would be really nice to have that option. At least that way we would know what he have to do or how safe we are etc... and yes, if this is not an option I've missed, then it's a suggestion @devs to add for the next time since it would be a really helpful feature.

Healthy population.

I'm not playing Period 1, made a mere 220 points for this purpose only. So it's at least 10k players - some are not playing Period 1 at all, some are absent for these few days, it's fair to say at least 10k.
