How you view this depends on whether you focus on achievement or rewards.  Those inclined to esteem achievement tend to despise these kinds of events because they say nothing about pilot skill.  What does it prove if you can play this game all day in a tier 10 bomber to score a million points in period III?  Nothing.  However, those who look at rewards like to see that, with a relatively modest effort, average or worse players can receive them.  They regard this as generous and welcome.

Personally, I find these kinds of events boring because too many teammates are focused on damage and personal points rather than winning.  But then, so many players do the wrong things and fly badly anyway it makes less of a difference than it might.

The top player in period 3 has over 700 hours in jet bombers, and period 1... Let's just say now is not a good time for new players to join. The clubbing is extreme.

This kind of padding makes stats irrelevent. It isn't about who can score the most points, more about who can best exploit poor balance.

All I want to say about this event is, that as its result, there are a lot of human players online (old and new ones). And this should be the most important thing for wg AND for us, because it is the only thing that keeps the game alive and prevents wg from pulling the plug and switch the servers out. THEN you have a lot of free time you can do with what you want (but not flying nice planes in this nice game anymore). So stop complaining about the details of the event (I don´t have time to play 10 hours a day neither so I will not be in high rankings anyway) and be happy that at least SOMETHING is happening with this game!

Judging by the performance I think they have already sold the servers. Any more than 10 people in a match and hit registration goes out of the window and we start bouncing around with lag. It is nice to see more people playing though, even if they are cheesing matches with jet bombers or molesting noobs.

Hit detection was awful for me around 8pm UK time last night.

Agree but sadly that's an obsessive compulsive sort of thing and those same sufferers of what can manifest into a serious affliction will just find their "fix" somewhere else. Most all of us gamers are a bit addicted to playing games for a little bit longer than we might like or should, but for some, it's become their entire existence and they actually yearn and love these sort of events where they barely sleep and just take a few toilet and food breaks. So if they can't find it in this game they undoubtedly have many other games where they will find such an outlet.

I think the character in this Tame Impala track sums up the afflicted sufferer nicely. Not a gamer, but same traits. He can't relax, won't relax, doesn't know how, doesn't sleep much, always racing about(with a gamer it's mentally racing about) and eventually it catches up with him because people can't live this way, we are not physically designed to tolerate such high demanding stresses in an almost indefinite daily intake. I saw some gamer on Twitch die this way during some dumb 36hr stream or some stupid idea like that he was doing.

If you want to see how this event goes, just look in the Bugs thread. Navigating your way through the eternal problems of this Beta game is the new meta.

I'm afraid I have to completely agree with levlos.
My opinion about this "event" should not be in the foreground now.
In fact, this event seems to attract more players. On the one hand, this leads to the fact that the game is no longer played for victory, but only for the highest personal score, which enormously reduces the fun of the game for me through unnecessary defeats.
However, the increased number of players has a much more intensive effect on the server capacity. The game no longer runs smoothly, there are a lot more malfunctions and laggs than normaly.
For me, this means that I'm taking a break from the game until further notice.

Nearly exclusive high tier play for me today; confirmation that bombers absolutely ruin this game.  The B-32 and the German and Soviet bombers at tiers 9 & 10 need savage nerfing or people will simply refuse to play at those tiers and drift away.

B-32s are easily solvable but you're absolutely right in the above.

B-32s are easy if you fly a heavy...but my least favourite class after bombers is heavies, so it's a problem.  I've just been up against unseen_strike 5 times in a row in a B-32 when my team either had no human heavy players or ones willing to take on bombers, with the result being 5 four minute stomps for him.  Agreed, the B-32 isn't as much of a pestilence as the higher tier bombers, but in circumstances of that ilk they are just as bad.  God help us if the higher tier American bombers ever appear with a carpet bombing mechanic.

Meanwhile, even though it's far from a favourite plane, I've taken my Me 262 on amphetamines out of the hangar and chosen to fly around - very quickly - in that to avoid endless frustration.

If I see a jet bomber on the other team, I just leave.

I stick to period II for this event. I can handle the bombers up to B-32 and some RB-17's depending on how OP they are made and what I'm flying. I give up at tier IX and X.

Just had a match on CIS with some IL-20's that had the same effect ; gunners were so OP that you didn't even needed to attack them, they just picked you off when you flew by at 1 km  :(

Ya I decided to keep my T8 262(So fricken historically epic!) and I'm really glad that I did. It was a bit drab and annoying until I finally specialized it yesterday evening. Those extra equipment and consumable slots are a game changer for this aircraft(and all aircraft obviously but for this it's really a game changer). Now it has the speed, engine power and more agility to do what I would like it to do MOST of the time... those rockets are utterly hilarious.

Bombers, GAA's.... the more the better.

Some delicious screenshots of this WW2 legend in action vs the usual suspects.

There are not many successful players on the B32. Those who are successful owe in-game thinking, not OP to the machine. B32 has airstrike strength and survivability, but for speed and altitude it is low, so it doesn't set the game like higher tier bombers (9/10)

it is quite startling just how much faster you can make the Me 262 once it's specialised.  I used to think the tier 9 was the best of the Me 262s, but what with the plague of OP bombers, I think this is the sweet spot now.

It is really hilarious how you can spot the seal-clubbers in the tier I-IV hall of shame.

If I were them, I would really avoid showing I have 400 hours on a Arado 65 or XP-31. Then again, if I were them, I would fall on my sword after I left a sour message to my mother for when she discovers my body in the basement :)

I find that seal clubbers aren't actually all that good. Sometimes when I'm bored I'll drop down to their level and troll them for a while and leave the newbies be. Learned some great slavic swear words that way.
