Losing to the bots...

Woolfie_aka_paca_chatban's Photo Woolfie_aka_paca_chatban 03 May 2021

Did a quick look at  a quick lost game think it was around five min.

red team won all bases capped

i was killed in the first 2 min lol

12 sec. spawn   3 bases capped    by red

i went for the bombers  got 4 kills   red still capped  all 5 bases 2 were mines

game over 800 to 60 points   checked score card

not one of red teams bombers were killed by a bot

our team  all bombers and gaa were killed by bots and 1 kill by a human

i think  i will start to look at score card more often   and see what happens  just to see if  bots make the difference

Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't ... part of the lottery.

There are moments in my battles when a bot just glues itself to my behind and simply won't ever f'k off until it kills me, I'll manage to outmaneuver it and kill it instead, or manage to outrun it far enough to be out of it's "awareness zone". I'm not sure if this is because someone from the enemy F4'ed me, telling the bot to attack me, or is it done automatically.

Either way, this can be very crippling, when flying some slower and less agile plane, impacting the battle negatively, or it may lead the bots on a merry chase, where they will waste most of the time trying to catch up, effectively taking them out of the equation.

Now, what I'm saying is that sometimes it's just a pure butterfly effect in a battle, where you "trigger" some bots one way or another, without even trying to interact with them, and it may snowball into a roflstomp or a total disaster.

You've probably been F4'd in that scenario. If a human teammate attacks the bot it should break off fairly quickly (or provide an easy frag) otherwise you'll have to do it yourself or hope a bot helps (unlikely).

Is it just my imagination or do bots start looking for you after you shot them down ?? Often I get attacked by a bot that I killed earlier on, in different areas of the map.

Or am I being paranoid ?

I have seen this many times. Also, there is a time when bottlers are very aggressive. This is usually the case when you are in the game for several hours.

Maybe it's just that the bots have their targets assigned before the battle even starts, and will try to engage it if they get a chance? I'm only guessing, of course.

I believe it's when they were commanded to attack someone via F4. It appears they will keep coming back till they kill their target. Also, certain classes of bots have certain targetting priorities - e.g. as a bomber one will be seeing the same bot HF repeatedly, because that's what HF bots do, they attack bombers.

Not about time in game - there is a 'killswitch' at squall time, it appears. After squall, bots do get significantly more aggressive, and target humans a lot more.

Absolutely not. It's more about target priorities for bots, that makes them repeatedly attack a player (bot MRFs love to attack GAA, bot HFs will attack mostly anything in sight, bot HFs go after bombers; also depends if bot is attacking or defending etc etc). I seem to remember a thread where I pointed out basics about bot behaviour, as far as we know and what can be repeatedly observed in battles.

That would be great to read up on, can't locate it in the forum. What was it called? Thanks!

Bots disengage, heal up, come back - no worries, bots can hunt bombers pretty well. When bots have enough firepower (but that comes at higher tiers), they often kill bombers in single pass. Obviously, this depends if it's a player or bot bomber, because of equipment and crew skills, but bots can and indeed do the job pretty well, even if not as fast and efficient as a player would.
