I could have done with this a week ago as I just finished Specialising my MiG-9

I'll probably buy and grind the I-210 as it's the only aircraft in the list that I don't already have (Although I suspect there is a good reason for that!)

The I-210 is a bit under-gunned with only 2x20mm ... but it's not bad. I even managed to specialize it  ;-)

The I-210's performance (minus combat capabilities) as a tier 6 altitude fighter is fine. But those guns are frustrating. I keep meaning to buy it back and specialise it just to be awkward.

So what you're really saying is that there's no special this weekend? Okay, got it.

The I-210 is an enjoyable challenge now, but back when I went up this line in 2018 I loathed it.  I should specialise it today (from 50% flat).

I grinded it at the same time. Actually it was quite enjoyable and I only sold it because I didn't have enough pilots back then.

Got the I-210 on another account ... the 3x12.7 mg's seem more effective than the 2x20mm

Must have sold the I210 at some point, presumably I didn't get on with it. But will re-purchase at the weekend just for something to spec, one of the few tech tree planes I don't have in my hanger.

Dam it. I shall have to buy it back now.

I have to ask if the MiG-15bis is worth the grind?

From a historical point of view, I'd love it... the Korean War, MiG alley, awesome. But is the aircraft itself in meta, tier strong and actually fun to play? That's a hell of a long grind just for one aircraft.

Also, why were talking Korean War, what about the MiG-15's dance partner the Sabre, is that worth the grind pain too?

I'm not a big fan of LF but Mig15bis is a nice piece of machine. Sabre is fun if you can stay on a tail of your opponent plus it may frustrate some of the 1101 spammers there (same or even better speed and more agile). Both of them are definately more fun to play than Swift.

If you are a newer player wondering about this line, you may find portions of the following Twitch VOD useful.  I fly the line from tier 5 to 10 twice.

Mark number 2: 3:44:54

In itself it's a good plane ; great speed and altitude, good guns.

I'm a pretty mediocre pilot and am still getting used to it, I like the Mig-9 better for some reason.

Concentrate on heavies, bombers (not the specced OP ones), GA and multiroles. Attack fighters only with BnZ and get away before they turn on you ...

EDIT: just flew it and noticed I "only" need 58 52 more kills for specialist ... must fly it more often!

Ya not a massive fan of all things post WW2 tbh but I am a fan of the early jet era MiG's so I've decided to drive on with that grind.

I cheated by chucking vast stocks of free XP at the situation and skipped the T6 and T7 entirely. Kept the T5 MiG 3 because it's actually a pretty strong fighter. It's not quite on the same level of the 109 E I feel but not by much and the all-machine gun setup is a nice switch, having that ability to just lazily glue the left mouse button down and hose away at a target lol. So it's probably a mix of somewhere between the US and German T5 fighters and that's not a bad thing at all. Still capable of dealing with all targets and map control along with having speed and altitude. Just not for picking fights with full health turn fighters that are aware of your presence.

The T8 has been a bit of a pain in the bollox for want of a better word but I've noticed non-specialized LF's tend to drop away in self-dependency after T6, becoming just too low on burst and dps to remove targets quickly before guns start overheating or the target counters you via speed or turn or gunners. What I did notice is the T8 has a lock gun slot which once specialized, will offset some of that suffering with a fully upgraded experimental bolt carrier and should be able to kill off certain health pools before overheating. The aircraft itself is really nice actually but it's just very frustrating sitting behind targets for ages, balancing between overheating and damage dealing with so much going on in the background and vulnerable to being attacked by another enemy at any given moment. When grinding a HF, bomber or gaa, it just seems a lot easier and they seem to make a bigger impact even when stock and with half upgraded parts compared to a LF. Obviously MM dealing a crappy hand has also been annoying and I've immediately left hatchet job battles where my team has no chance, instead applying the XP buff to some other aircraft during that rofl stomp loss I'll avoid. Other than that, onward and upwards.

Just on the brink of unlocking the T9 MiG-9 which is a proper jet and looks nice if nothing else lol so that in itself will keep me somewhat happy for a short while and I'll keep going until I unlock the T10. It's boiling hot out so nothing else to do really. If I manage to unlock the MiG-15 I'll probably just purchase it and wait until I have enough tokens to skip the specialization grind before playing it. I don't want to develop some unfair dislike for it by playing it as a weaker non-specialized offering and think badly of it. There can be a huge performance and playstyle difference between a specialized and non-specialized offering of the same aircraft, almost like two completely different aircraft, so I think that's the sensible way to go.

The T8 is hopeless, only kept it for the collection. T9 is fun, not great against T10s though. The T10 is a beauty.

Yep. Started flying it again, close to specialist. That gives a gun slot !! Bolt carriers or GOA for the 37mm ...

Just shot Su-10 and Me 262 HGIII in a flight.

Done...  :great:

Just a little feedback of my experiences with the MiG's in that line I've played so far. Keep in mind, very low sample size of battles but was enough to get a general feel for them.

Tier 5 Mig-3 : Very good, worth having. 32 battles. 72% winrate.

Tier 8 I-250 : Mediocre, bordering on the weak side. Lacking speed, agility and burst damage. 30 battles. 40% winrate.

Tier 9 MiG-9 : Pretty decent, bordering on being good. Fast, sustained rate of climb, chunky bursts of damage. 30 battles. 70% win rate.

I skipped the T6 and T7 so that's about it really. Had free premium time and plenty of XP buffs to throw at it so it didn't take too long and was mostly enjoyable apart from the usual MM bs, flights and higher tier bombers. Great looking aircraft, very icon MiG historically speaking so it ticks the boxes for me and looking forward to taking it out for few sorties.

One thing that I found a small but of a pity with the MiG-9 is the forced fuselage upgrade.

The stock MiG-9 looks like this

Very aggressive looking fighter, has a real badasz look to it with those cannons sticking out the front, proper MiG look. But when you take the next upgrade, it looks like this.

Ok, it's still not bad looking but it's really tame looking by comparison and just loses that vicious look at once had and instead hides the cannons into the side of the fuselage along with obtaining a much more elevated cockpit canopy instead of that fast slick looking low profile canopy on the earlier model. Anyway, that's just aesthetics and personal taste obviously but those are the finer details I like in games so feel a bit hard done by lol.

I220 on 7th tier is also a very decent plane.

Was an absolute beast pre 2.0, lost a little something thereafter I felt. Still decent but I dont climb aboard often.

Played a couple of games in the T6, meh, can see why I sold it when I needed hanger slots. Will keep it for the collection though and work through the spec grind.
